Very Funny Mothers Day Quotes

Phyllis Diller portrait

From Denny: Share these funny quotes this holiday with your mother, wife, sister, grandmother, aunt or mother-in-law. Fortunately, after all the stress of daily living women can still joke about what it is to be a parent.

Isn't it something how men can watch a woman in action mothering the children and make peanut gallery comments on their performances? Yeah, buddy, your turn! Go for it; your day is coming. :) Appreciate their sense of humor and celebrate it this Mothers Day!

Obnoxious Silly Mother in Law Jokes Just in Time 4 Mothers Day

From Denny: These obnoxious jokes are really just plain silly and done in good fun. The reality for me is that my mother-in-law turned out to be a fabulous friend for me - and was in my corner fighting FOR me instead of AGAINST me. Most American women are not so lucky as I was.

She died a few years ago from lung cancer - a nonsmoker no less - guess that's what you get for living in Louisiana on the Gulf of Mexico all your life - because it is affectionately known by the locals as Cancer Alley. I still miss her. Even she would have laughed at these jokes.

Everyone lift your glass and help me toast a terrific lady: Here's to you, Bonnie! Happy Mothers Day to you and many more!

Jokes and Peanut Gallery Commentary

A constantly nagged and harried husband decided to buy his mother-in-law a cemetery plot as a Christmas gift.

The next year Christmas came again and this year he didn't buy her any gift.
Mother-in-law was upset and asked the son-in-law why was she forgotten this time.

The angry son-in-law responded, "Well, you still haven't used the gift I bought you last year!" (think there is a bit of resentment in that family?)

Q: What do you call a blonde mother-in-law?
A: An air bag. (Hmmm...blondes are supposed to be air heads and mother-in-laws are old middle-aged wind bags - not too bad, a bit weak but somewhat amusing)

Have you heard about this woman who took her mother-in-law to the
zoo and threw her into the crocodile pool? She is now being sued by
the SPCA for being cruel to the crocodiles. (that's cold, man)

A husband and wife were shopping when the wife said, "Darling,
it's my mother's birthday tomorrow. What shall we buy her?

She would like something electric." The husband replied, "How about a chair?" (secretly hoping she would be electrocuted)

Wife: Dear, this afternoon the big clock fell off the wall. Had it
fallen a moment sooner, my mother would have been hit on the
head and badly hurt.

Husband: Oh, my God! That clock has always been slow. (Ouch!)

Fred And Rick Were In A Pub. Fred Says To His Mate, 'My Mother-In-Law Is An Angel.'
Rick Replies, 'You're Lucky. Mine Is Still Alive.' (Australians and the Brits are chilly in more ways than one!)

Adam and Eve were the happiest, and the luckiest, couple in the world, because neither of them had a mother-in-law. (Now that's one way to look at it)

A pharmacist tells a customer, 'In order to buy arsenic you need a legal prescription. A picture of your mother-in-law just isn't enough.' (The things people do. That's why they call them "people.")

This guy says to his buddy, "You'll never believe what happened last night."

His buddy says, "Well then, tell me what happened."

The guy says, "Last night the doorbell rang, and when I opened the door, there was my ex-mother-in-law on the front porch."

She said, "Can I stay here for a few days?"

I said, "Of course, you can," and shut the door.

So you want to become my son-in-law?

Not exactly. I just want to marry your daughter. (Well, at least he doesn't lie to you)

I gave my mother-in-law a waterproof, shockproof, anti-magnetic, unbreakable watch. She went and lost it.

What's the punishment for bigamy? Two mothers-in-law.

And since this is a cheeky humor blog - maybe we should save this one for Fathers Day? :)

Overheard:

"She's the kind of girl you'd like to bring home to mother - If
you could trust your father."

Roundup of Late Nite Funnies: Colbert Lampoons Arizona Immigration Law

From Denny: Here's a fun sampling of the laugh out loud funnies going on over at The Social Poets on Mondays where I round up the late night jokes, political cartoons and funny videos lampooning something, someone and somewhere. It's a great way to get through the work week with a silly grin on your face. Maybe your boss will actually think you are enjoying your lame job - or looking at eight hours of porn on company time just like the weirdos over at the SEC. "Our government at work..." :)

*** Colbert pokes jabs at the state of Arizona for passing controversial bold new immigration bill which basically legalizes the harassment of Latinos. Colbert thinks the new strategy is one to irritate and frustrate the Latino community to the point they will get fed up and leave on their own.

Posts Roundup This Week at Dennys Blogs 25 Apr 2010

From Denny: Reading is such a pleasure because we can learn new information or take a mental trip into someone else's world to see what they discover. These days I seem to be on the writing end rather than the reading end. Maybe that's what happens after you spend so much time reading: you start writing! :)

I love to poke around and see what I find and then share it on my blogs. Here are some of the latest posts and also many of the most popular ones from my many eclectic interests, enjoy! And hey! - if you cook anything wonderful from these recipe posts, send a sample dish my way - and let me know how you have altered the recipes to your tastes. We love trying new foods at our house!

Outrageous: Limbaugh Blames Iceland Volcano on Obama

From Denny: Here's a great way to enjoy your work week with a funny from The Ed Show. This segment is called Psycho Talk. Ed refers to bizarre Rush Limbaugh as "Drugster."

It seems that conservative talk show host Limbaugh is claiming that God is so mad at Obama for passing health care law that he set off the Iceland volcano to show his displeasure. Who is going to swallow that load of spewed garbage? Hmmm... probably the Tea Party crowd will be screaming it at the top of their lungs along with the gun rights guys and the RNC as they do a pole dance at their favorite strip club.

Well, I've got one for them: "And God gave them over to their perverted minds as judgment on themselves..."

Take the Test: Whats Your Sex IQ?

From Denny: OK, this is too funny. It's also a good test of your knowledge about what you think you know about sex from a science perspective. Take the test and see how much you know - or don't know. It may surprise you! :) These two TV hosts had fun with it. Take a look and maybe learn something new:

Cool Earth Day Links, Message From Our Prez

From Denny: Since I've been getting bombarded with email about Earth Day - a lot of it worthy to visit - it deserved a post to pass along what people are doing to appreciate their planet.

There are news articles, children's activities and suggestions of how you can help in small ways every day. Make every day your Earth Day! :)

Earth Day, 40 Years Later: How Far Have We Come? - 20 Million Americans Joined in First Earth Day; Organizers Say 1 Billion Worldwide Taking Part Today

Letter from Vice President Joe Biden

Good afternoon,

We’ve been celebrating Earth Day for 40 years now, but the truth is that tomorrow may be the first one when we are truly able to say that we have started down the road to a real clean energy economy -- and a better world for our kids.

Today I am kicking off the Administration’s celebration of Earth Day in advance by announcing $452 million in Recovery Act “Retrofit Ramp-Up” awards. These awards will help make energy efficiency affordable for hundreds of thousands of homeowners and businesses, and are expected to create tens of thousands of jobs in the process.

And this is just a tiny sliver of what we’ve done. As the President’s point man on the Recovery Act, which included America’s biggest investment ever in clean energy, I’ve visited countless communities that have seen jobs come back through these kinds of initiatives.

You can learn more about all our efforts at WhiteHouse.gov/EarthDay, and also join Carol Browner, Assistant to the President for Energy and Climate Change, for a special online video chat tomorrow at 12:00PM EDT at WhiteHouse.gov.

Of course Earth Day is about more than just government action to protect our air, water and environment. Since the first Earth Day forty years ago countless Americans have taken action to make their local communities cleaner and healthier and to have a positive impact on our planet.

This year, President Obama is calling on all of us to pitch in and participate in the Earth Day of Service. On Serve.gov/EarthDay you can find thousands of Earth Day Service events in communities across the country.

Whether you pick up trash at a local park, plant trees, or clean up the river or stream in your hometown, there are plenty of ways to get involved. I hope you’ll join President Obama and me in celebrating the 40th anniversary of Earth Day.

Sincerely,

Joe Biden
Vice President of the United States

"As we continue to tackle our environmental challenges, it’s clear that change won’t come from Washington alone. It will come from Americans across the country who take steps in their own homes and their own communities to make that change happen."

- President Barack Obama
